“Creating a new climate at EID means putting people at the centre”
Mariana on transformation, workplace culture and bringing people closer together
In organisations undergoing change, Human Resources plays an increasingly strategic role, helping shape not only processes, but also culture, employee experience and organisational wellbeing.
Since joining EID, Mariana has been actively involved in several transformation initiatives, contributing to projects focused on people, organisational development and internal culture.
Her arrival at EID coincided with a period of change and growth, where new ideas and ways of working were beginning to take shape.
“Shortly before I joined, we were already envisioning a new phase for EID. From very early on, I became involved in projects linked to change and transformation – not only from a strategic perspective, but also from a people perspective.”
Joining a company with over 40 years of history and many long-standing employees also came with challenges.
For Mariana, one of the biggest was building trust and helping people embrace change.
“As a new face, it was a challenge to gain people’s trust and show that it would be possible to build a new climate for EID together.”
Human Resources beyond administration
One of the areas where Mariana believes there has been a visible impact is in strengthening proximity between Human Resources and employees.
Over time, new procedures, closer follow-up and employee-focused initiatives have helped position HR as a more strategic and people-oriented area.
“HR stopped being seen solely as an administrative function and became more present in employees’ day-to-day lives. We introduced new procedures, improved internal processes and created initiatives that contribute to greater motivation and wellbeing.”
This closer relationship has also translated into moments of connection and engagement, helping reinforce a stronger sense of belonging across teams.
Creating moments that matter
Alongside her HR responsibilities, Mariana has also been involved in organising internal initiatives and events – an area she particularly enjoys.
Among the most memorable moments so far, one stands out: EID’s first Christmas dinner.
Until then, the company traditionally organised a Christmas lunch. Changing that long-standing format initially generated some resistance, but the outcome proved highly positive.
“I asked people to trust the idea and give us the opportunity to do something different. The feedback was incredibly rewarding: hearing colleagues say they had reconnected with others or experienced a Christmas spirit they hadn’t felt in years made it all worthwhile.”
For Mariana, initiatives like these show how important informal moments can be in strengthening relationships and company culture.
What makes EID special?
When asked what makes EID a unique place to work, Mariana highlights the balance between experience and growth.
“It is a welcoming environment where younger employees have room to grow and learn from colleagues with years of experience.”
EID in three words
Challenging. Dynamic. Resilient.
