- New role reinforces focus on the customer and the delivery of critical defence programmes;
- The reorganisation aligns with the European defence investment cycle, including the SAFE programme, and consolidates EID’s position as a global leader in the naval sector.
EID, a Portuguese company specialising in the development of advanced communications and command and control (C4I) systems for the defence sectors, announces the creation of the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), to be filled by Pedro Araújo Costa, 49 years old, who has been with the company for 3 years and has 26 years’ professional experience in the industry.
The creation of this new role comes at a particularly significant time for the defence sector in Europe, marked by the launch of new European investment instruments, notably the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) programme. Against this backdrop, EID is strengthening its organisational structure to respond with greater agility and operational capacity to the opportunities arising for the national and European defence industries.
Internationally recognised as a leading company in its field has been consolidating its position as a strategic partner to navies and armies in Portugal and abroad. The creation of the COO role is therefore part of a broader vision to prepare the company for the growth challenges ahead, with a renewed focus on delivering value to the customer and maintaining the technological and innovative leadership that characterises EID.
“We are entering a particularly significant phase for EID. The company’s growth and the scale of the opportunities ahead of us require an organisation that is prepared to operate with greater agility, integration and customer focus. The creation of the COO role addresses this need and strengthens our ability to transform opportunities into concrete and sustainable programmes,” says Martin Bennett, CEO of EID.
A growing company
This new management structure comes at a time of strong growth for EID, which is currently implementing a plan to increase its premises by 50 per cent and its workforce by 35 per cent, with completion scheduled for next year. This investment reflects the confidence that partners and customers place in the company’s work, which is internationally recognised for its quality and security, in terms of both software and hardware.
The company continues to develop and supply solutions for naval and land-based programmes in Portugal and international markets, with an established presence in Europe, Africa, South America, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. Looking ahead, the company plans to strengthen its internationalisation strategy, capitalising on the current cycle of European defence investment, whilst maintaining its commitment to excellence, reliability and innovation – EID’s hallmarks.
