“Being part of the technological forefront allows me to constantly challenge myself”
Bruno Ramos on maintenance, continuous learning and keeping EID systems operational
In technology-driven industries, the reliability and longevity of complex systems depend not only on their design and production but also on the work carried out behind the scenes to ensure their performance over time. At EID, maintenance specialists play a key role in guaranteeing that equipment and systems remain fully operational.
Since 2008, Bruno Ramos has been working as a Maintenance Technician within the Programmes and Products Directorate, supporting the maintenance and technical follow-up of EID’s systems and equipment.
“It has been a journey driven by the ambition to evolve and by the challenges that come with it. Being part of the technological forefront allows me to constantly challenge and improve myself.”
Maintenance in advanced technological systems requires not only technical expertise but also a comprehensive understanding of how different components interact. For Bruno, the main challenge is not just solving isolated issues but analysing and intervening in systems as integrated solutions.
“More than the individual complexity of each product, the challenge lies in analysing, detecting and intervening in the system as a whole.”
This holistic approach helps ensure that EID’s systems continue to operate reliably throughout their lifecycle.
The impact behind the scenes
Although maintenance work often happens away from the spotlight, its contribution is essential to the success of programmes and to customer satisfaction.
“It is very rewarding when the client recognises the demanding work carried out in resolving anomalies. That feedback brings a strong sense of accomplishment.”
Knowing that his work directly contributes to the reliability of systems delivered to customers is one of the most fulfilling aspects of the role.
Given the nature of the work, maintenance technicians frequently interact with multiple areas across the company, including engineering, production, quality, project management and sometimes customers. For Bruno, strong relationships between colleagues are fundamental for effective collaboration.
“Kindness, good humour, openness and empathy help create strong bonds between colleagues, resulting in a true team spirit to achieve a common goal.”
Working with constantly evolving technologies also requires a commitment to continuous learning. Bruno highlights the importance of training, personal research and professional workshops to stay up to date with new developments.
“Every day is a new opportunity for improvement. Continuous learning is essential in a technological environment.”
When asked what drives him after more than a decade at EID, the answer reflects a mindset of constant development — embracing challenges, learning from experience and contributing to the evolution of the company’s technological solutions.
