No passado dia 22 de abril, a EID marcou presen\u00e7a na confer\u00eancia \u201cDefesa Nacional: Nova Ordem Mundial. Onde estamos, o que temos e do que precisamos\u201d, promovida pelo jornal Di\u00e1rio de Not\u00edcias na Academia Militar. A iniciativa reuniu decisores pol\u00edticos, representantes das For\u00e7as Armadas, especialistas em seguran\u00e7a e empresas da base tecnol\u00f3gica e industrial de defesa (BTID), num momento particularmente sens\u00edvel do panorama internacional. Em destaque a presen\u00e7a do Exmo. Sr. Ministro da Defesa Nacional, do Sr. Dr. Jos\u00e9 Manuel Dur\u00e3o Barroso e dos Chefes de Estado de todos os Ramos das For\u00e7as Armadas Portuguesas.<\/p>\n

Um contexto global em mudan\u00e7a<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vivemos uma era de instabilidade geopol\u00edtica crescente. A guerra na Ucr\u00e2nia, a tens\u00e3o no Indo-Pac\u00edfico, o refor\u00e7o da presen\u00e7a da NATO na Europa de Leste e o ressurgimento de amea\u00e7as h\u00edbridas e cibern\u00e9ticas reposicionaram a Defesa como uma prioridade estrat\u00e9gica para os Estados. Neste novo paradigma, marcado pela competi\u00e7\u00e3o entre grandes pot\u00eancias, a autonomia tecnol\u00f3gica e a resili\u00eancia das infraestruturas cr\u00edticas tornam-se fatores determinantes para a soberania e seguran\u00e7a nacional.<\/p>\n

\u00c9 neste enquadramento que se insere esta confer\u00eancia, cujo objetivo foi refletir sobre o papel da Defesa de Portugal na Europa, na nova ordem mundial, identificar vulnerabilidades e, sobretudo, delinear caminhos para o refor\u00e7o das capacidades nacionais, tanto no plano militar como empresarial.<\/p>\n

EID: Inova\u00e7\u00e3o tecnol\u00f3gica ao servi\u00e7o da soberania \u2013 a \u201ccaixa m\u00e1gica\u201d que integra v\u00e1rios sistemas de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o<\/strong><\/p>\n

Com mais de 40 anos de experi\u00eancia, a EID tem vindo a afirmar-se como uma refer\u00eancia nacional e internacional no desenvolvimento de sistemas de comunica\u00e7\u00f5es t\u00e1ticas e navais, solu\u00e7\u00f5es C4I (Comando, Controlo, Comunica\u00e7\u00f5es, Computadores e Informa\u00e7\u00e3o) e integra\u00e7\u00e3o de sistemas para os setores da Defesa e Seguran\u00e7a. A sua participa\u00e7\u00e3o no painel \u201cTecnologias Emergentes de Defesa\u201d, atrav\u00e9s de Gregory Flippes, Diretor Comercial, trouxe ao debate a import\u00e2ncia da inova\u00e7\u00e3o como alicerce da moderniza\u00e7\u00e3o das For\u00e7as Armadas. Uma das mensagens a salientar na participa\u00e7\u00e3o de Gregory neste painel foi a import\u00e2ncia das parcerias estrat\u00e9gicas entre as empresas e outras entidades como universidades, acompanhadas pelos clientes e ao encontro dos seus desafios, numa ind\u00fastria em permanente evolu\u00e7\u00e3o e t\u00e3o exigente. Estas parcerias ser\u00e3o sempre um valioso contributo para o crescimento do nosso Pa\u00eds enquanto player<\/em> de inova\u00e7\u00e3o tecnol\u00f3gica na Europa.<\/p>\n

O General Mendes Ferr\u00e3o, Chefe do Estado-Maior do Ex\u00e9rcito, sublinhou a relev\u00e2ncia da EID neste processo, referindo: \u201cUma das \u00e1reas que estamos a renovar \u00e9 o nosso sistema de comunica\u00e7\u00f5es t\u00e1ticas que est\u00e1 a ser fabricado em Portugal por uma empresa do universo da defesa: a EID, que est\u00e1 na ponta da tecnologia mundial.\u201d<\/em> A \u00e1rea de exposi\u00e7\u00e3o da EID, criada na Academia Militar para o evento, serviu de cen\u00e1rio para o General CEME dar uma entrevista ao Di\u00e1rio de Not\u00edcias onde acrescentou ainda: \u201cTemos engenharia de qualidade em Portugal e capacidades de fabrico j\u00e1 postas \u00e0 prova em \u00e1reas muito exigentes\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n

Este reconhecimento oficial refor\u00e7a a miss\u00e3o da EID enquanto pilar da soberania tecnol\u00f3gica nacional, contribuindo para a capacita\u00e7\u00e3o operacional das for\u00e7as nacionais e para a redu\u00e7\u00e3o da depend\u00eancia externa em \u00e1reas cr\u00edticas.<\/p>\n

Impacto na economia nacional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Integrada no Grupo Cohort, a EID \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m um importante agente econ\u00f3mico, com impacto direto na gera\u00e7\u00e3o de emprego qualificado, na internacionaliza\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologia nacional e no refor\u00e7o da autonomia estrat\u00e9gica de Portugal. A sua atividade contribui para a consolida\u00e7\u00e3o de uma verdadeira base industrial de defesa portuguesa, com efeitos multiplicadores no tecido empresarial e acad\u00e9mico, atrav\u00e9s de parcerias com universidades e centros de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o. Ali\u00e1s, conforme referido no painel onde a EID teve lugar.<\/p>\n

Num setor tradicionalmente dominado por grandes players<\/em> internacionais, a EID \u00e9 prova de que Portugal tem capacidade para competir na linha da frente da inova\u00e7\u00e3o tecnol\u00f3gica, exportando know-how<\/em> e integrando projetos multinacionais de defesa e seguran\u00e7a.<\/p>\n

Um compromisso com o futuro<\/strong><\/p>\n

A presen\u00e7a da EID nesta confer\u00eancia reflete o seu compromisso cont\u00ednuo com a reflex\u00e3o estrat\u00e9gica e a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de solu\u00e7\u00f5es que respondam aos desafios do futuro. Num cen\u00e1rio em que a Defesa \u00e9 cada vez mais multidimensional e tecnol\u00f3gica, a empresa reafirma o seu papel como parceira do Estado, das For\u00e7as Armadas e da ind\u00fastria, na constru\u00e7\u00e3o de um Portugal mais seguro, soberano e preparado.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

On April 22, EID was present at the conference \u201cNational Defence: New World Order. Where we are, what we have and what we need\u201d, promoted by the newspaper Di\u00e1rio de Not\u00edcias at the Military Academy. The initiative brought together policymakers, representatives of the Armed Forces, security experts and companies from the defence technology and industrial base (BTID), at a particularly sensitive moment in the international scenario. Highlighting the presence of His Excellency the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Jos\u00e9 Manuel Dur\u00e3o Barroso and the Heads of State of all Branches of the Portuguese Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

A changing global context<\/strong><\/p>\n

We live in an era of growing geopolitical instability. The war in Ukraine, tension in the Indo-Pacific, the reinforcement of NATO’s presence in Eastern Europe and the resurgence of hybrid and cyber threats have repositioned Defence as a strategic priority for countries. In this new paradigm, marked by competition between great powers, technological autonomy and the resilience of critical infrastructures become determining factors for sovereignty and national security.<\/p>\n

This conference fits into this context, the objective of which was to reflect on the role of Portugal’s Defence in Europe, in the new world order, identify vulnerabilities and, above all, outline paths for strengthening national capabilities, both in military and business terms.<\/p>\n

EID: Technological innovation at the service of sovereignty \u2013 the \u201cmagic box\u201d that integrates several communication systems<\/strong><\/p>\n

With over 40 years of experience, EID has established itself as a national and international reference in the development of tactical and naval communications systems, C4I solutions (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Information) and systems integration for the Defence and Security sectors. His participation in the panel \u201cEmerging Defence Technologies\u201d, through Gregory Flippes, Commercial Director, brought to the debate the importance of innovation as the foundation of the modernization of the Armed Forces. One of the messages to be highlighted in Gregory’s participation in this panel was the importance of strategic partnerships between companies and other entities such as universities, accompanied by customers and meeting their challenges, in an industry that is constantly evolving and so demanding. These partnerships will always be a valuable contribution to the growth of our country as a technological innovation player in Europe.<\/p>\n

General Mendes Ferr\u00e3o, Chief of the Army General Staff, highlighted the relevance of EID in this process, saying: \u201cOne of the areas we are renewing is our tactical communications system that is being manufactured in Portugal by a company in the defence universe: EID, which is at the cutting edge of world technology.\u201d The EID exhibition area, created at the Military Academy for the event, served as the setting for General CEME to give an interview to Di\u00e1rio de Not\u00edcias where he added: \u201cWe have quality engineering in Portugal and manufacturing capabilities already put to the test in very demanding areas\u201d<\/p>\n

This official recognition reinforces EID’s mission as a pillar of national technological sovereignty, contributing to the operational capacity of national forces and to the reduction of external dependence in critical areas.<\/p>\n

Impact on the national economy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Part of the Cohort Group, EID is also an important economic agent, with a direct impact on the generation of qualified jobs, the internationalization of national technology and the strengthening of Portugal’s strategic autonomy. Its activity contributes to the consolidation of a true Portuguese defence industrial base, with multiplier effects on the business and academic fabric, through partnerships with universities and research centres. In fact, as mentioned in the panel where the EID took place.<\/p>\n

In a sector traditionally dominated by large international players, EID is proof that Portugal has the capacity to compete at the forefront of technological innovation, exporting know-how and integrating multinational defence and security projects.<\/p>\n

A commitment to the future<\/strong><\/p>\n

EID’s presence at this conference reflects its ongoing commitment to strategic reflection and the construction of solutions that respond to the challenges of the future.
