The TMC Tactical Media Converter is a compact and rugged unit that converts two Ethernet copper twisted pair channels into optical signals and vice versa. The unit is particularly useful whenever an intercom system (e.g. the ICC-201) is installed in the vehicle turret and an optical cable is intended for inter vehicular connection accessible from the hull. In fact, to avoid the usage of an expensive optical-capable slip ring, the connection from the turret to the hull can be based on 10/100 Mbps Ethernet copper twisted pairs, therefore lowering the slip ring cost. Then signals are converted from electrical to optical by the TMC, installed in the vehicle hull.
